Co-Founder, Chronister Strategies LLC
An evident pattern emerges when one reviews Mark Chronister’s professional involvements over the past forty years. He has successfully bridged business, education, and nonprofit service unconventionally. Whether serving clients or as a board member, Chronister’s leadership skills have been tapped and challenged. He has frequently been selected as board chair of organizations dependent on truly good governance. Chronister spent most of his career serving financial services and higher education institutions with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he worked for 34 years and retired in 2007. He was the Minneapolis Office managing partner and industry leader for many of those years.
Chronister also was the engagement partner for higher education institutions, including the University of Minnesota, the University of St. Thomas, Carleton College, Bethel University, and Creighton and William Mitchell College of Law. In the auditing field, he was known as an honest and helpful partner who could deal with challenges tactfully and directly. His leadership and strategic contributions led to board chair roles with St. Catherine University, The University of Nebraska Foundation, Prodeo Academy, Alzheimer’s Association of MN/ND, the Minneapolis Foundation, the Minneapolis Downtown Council, the Academy of Holy Angels, and Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest. In addition, he served as crucial committee chair with the Science Museum of Minnesota, Minnesota Private College Council, KIPP Minnesota/Stand Academy, and the Minnesota Business Partnership.
